Caregiver Support, Disability Services, and Services for Children

BACI’s child services offer developmental and respite services to individuals and families living with a disability.
BACI provides a wide range of training, development, social, recreational and employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities and their families. The following services are offered:
  • Children's Respite: Provides a break to families in caring for their child with special needs. The program is open to those under 18 years of age, and families can receive up to 28 days of respite per fiscal year. To access respite through BACI, families must be eligible for CYSN (Children/Youth with Special needs). CYSN assigns vacancies based on a family assessment and current need. Families interested in respite need to speak to their social worker for service inquiry. Families without a social worker need to contact the Ministry of Child and Family Development (MCFD) to request an intake worker for their child.

  • Infant Development Program (IDP): IDP serves children from birth to three years old who live in Burnaby and are at risk for, or who already have, a delay in development. Referrals required; referrals may come from any source.
