SFU Clinical Psychology Centre
Family / Parenting, Healthcare Providers, Mental Health - Adult & Senior, and Mental Health - Child & Youth
Provided by Simon Fraser University
Psychotherapy services are open to individual adults, children, couples, and families. At times, group therapy may also be available.
The CPC also offers psychological assessments, including neuropsychological, psycho-educational, and psychodiagnostic assessments. For neuropsychological evaluations, a written referral must be received from the family physician or other medical practitioners, and feedback is usually provided to both the client and the referring physician (with the client's consent).
Psychological services at the CPC are provided by clinical interns who are Masters or Doctoral level graduate students in the Clinical Psychology Program at SFU. Interns are supervised in every aspect of their work by clinical faculty or community-based clinical associates of the CPC.
All our services are confidential and meet the ethical guidelines established by the College of Psychologists of British Columbia.
Services not offerered: Clients who are in need of hospitalization at the time of intake, or who are likely to need inpatient care, are not usually accepted for clinical services. The CPC does not accept referrals in which the release of clinical records for legal purposes is probable (e.g., child custody and access suits). Clients with serious substance abuse difficulties may be considered for services following detoxification and a stable period of abstinence.
